Meet the Geeks

Who are we? We are four members of the #SQLFamily. We are all Geeks. And we all love music. Loud music. Loud angry music. Loud angry music with guitars. Metal.

And that’s why we team up once a month to talk about the new metal releases of the past month and what we liked or didn’t like about them.

But enough talk, it’s time to meet the Geeks.

We are the geeks. We are the ones who will willingly destroy our ears just to tell you, what you should listen to or can safely skip. We hope, you enjoy our chat about music as much as we do.

Ben as described by Rob

Tall, dark, long haired, tattooed. Ben looks like a scary $$%%@@##%%er.
It’s not true of course, he is as soft as Foreigner or Europe. Luckily for us, his music taste reflects his appearance and not his nature.

Dirk as described by Ben

Dirk might look more geek than metal. But don’t be fooled by his gentle looks, inside he has the broad music taste and huge knowledge of someone who is truly nuts for metal.

Frank as described by Dirk

Frank is often very tired, maybe because he is working too much or because there is so much crappy pop music out there, which makes him sleepy. But Frank is also hungry, hungry for heavy metal music (and burgers) and visiting as many metal concerts as possible.

Rob as described by Frank

The first thing that you recognize when you see Rob is his enourmous beard! Behind this beard you find a true and gentle metalhead who attended a zillion concert and is an expert on this kind of music!

The riffs and licks

Just as the riffs and licks form the basis of any decent metal song, our Podcast has some key ingredients. Each month each of us will pick an album released in the past month to present it to the orthers.

For each album we will give some recommended tracks to get you started as well as the full album in a Spotify playlist accompanying the episode.

In addition we will recommend some “honorable mentions”, albums that we do not discuss at length but recommend listening to if you are on the lookout for new music.

So make sure to check out the playlists and enjoy the music. Up the irons!
